How to connect my TP-SW8GBT/AT/PSV-U or TP-SW16GBT/AT/PSV-U Switch to the Tycon MPPT Solar Controller

Applicable to the following products:

  1. TP-SW8GBT/AT/PSV-U
  2. TP-SW16GBT/AT/PSV-U
  3. TS-SC24-40N-MPPT
  4. TS-SC24-60N-MPPT

The Tycon manageable PoE Switches can connect to the Tycon MPPT controllers via the RS485 connection and monitor the MPPT controllers.

The switch can collect data from the MPPT and provide a data summary collected over time. The switch also allows the user to set alarms in the switch to alert about low battery or any error conditions on the MPPT.

Note: Switch firmware versions must be V1.1.3 or later.

A simple 2 wire cable is needed with RJ45 connector on one end and bare wire on the other end. Max cable length is 1200m (4000ft).

  1. After connecting the MPPT controller to the PoE Switch, open the PoE Switch web interface and navigate to Advanced | Energy Management | Solar System Configuration
  2. Select MPPT Type = TYCON
  3. Device ID default is 1. You only need to change this if you changed the device ID in the MPPT controller.
  4. Enable Solar System Function. Wait a few minutes and the Status should show CONNECTED

On this page you can see battery status and set alarms.
